Under Construction

We have been stuck with an all dirt backyard for the past 9 months and believe me it has not been easy. But our backyard is now officially under construction. Alfred (my father-in-law) is doing the work for us. He started working on the yard on Monday June 4th and has come along way from what it used to look like. First he brought in a tractor to grade the backyard.

This is week one! Alfred had the tractor guy tear out part of the slope in the back and smooth out the dirt so that it was all even. Then Alfred and the guys started getting the patio framing started for the cement work to be done. They had to do the footings for the patio cover and for the retaining wall along the slope. It's lookin' good.

On Saturday the guys were here to pour the cement for the patio and for the side walk way. They did an awesome job and it's really coming along faster than I thought it would.

Here are some of the most recent pictures of the backyard. This is after the cement was poured and dried.

Alfred and the workers have also started the framing for the patio cover. The patio will be 12 ft by 28 ft. And we will still have plenty of room for some grass for the kids to play outside.

I just can't wait to see the finished product. Hopefully it will all be done in time for Elijah's birthday party on the 23rd of this month. I'll keep you posted on the progress of the backyard as it gets done.
